Customer service

My local supermarket is big on addressing customers by name. At checkout, before handing over my receipt, the grocery clerk will look to see what my name is and ask, "Do you need help out with that, Mr. Panda!!!!?" It's a nice touch and I appreciate the attempt at improving customer service.

Today, the woman bagging my groceries turned to me as I picked up my purchases and asked, "May I ask your last name?" Not hearing her clearly, I responded, "I'm sorry?"

Robotically, she handed me one of my bags and said, "Do you need help out with that, Mr. Ahmsari?"
